Usage:

Britons do not use voting machines. On election day, the polls are opened at 7 a.m., closed at 9 p.m. When the polls close, the sealed ballot boxes are removed to a central "counting room" in the constituency, opened and emptied; it is then that the election officials embark on a procedure that would baffle U.S. politicians.
