Professor Emeritus Crawford Howell Toy, LL.D. '04, Hancock Professor of Hebrew and other Oriental Languages, died yesterday morning at his home, 7 Lowell street, after a prolonged illness which has prevented him from teaching for some time. He was Hancock professor at the University from 1880 to 1909, and has been Professor Emeritus since September 1, 1909. Until 1903 he was also Dexter lecturer on biblical history, and was the author of numerous books on the history of religions.
