...hard as all Harvard crews are expected to do, and their labor, we believe, will not be in vain. The college appreciated the exhibition row which was given yesterday quite as much as any favor which has ever been conferred upon her by a university captain; and the enthusiasm of the spectators dispelled all fears that the college had no interest in the crew. Well, the crew has gone, and there will be a brief week of anxious waiting. Let us hope we shall have two more victories to record, and two more pennants to adorn the walls...
...year, that we hoped she had mended her manners; and last year justified our hopes in a certain degree. It is this intense feeling over the result of every game that accounts for the desperation of Yale's play, and the dogged pluck she exhibits in athletics; but gentlemanly enthusiasm is almost as effective, and far more graceful for college men, than the bear-garden behavior in vogue at cocking mains and prize fights. It is one of the most creditable things in '89's record that she bore all this abuse patiently, without attempting to retaliate in the slightest...

An opportunity has also been furnished, for those who enjoy a friendly game of base-ball, to have a quiet afternoon's fun without the arduous work of continual practice and training. We hope that...
...here, fully seventy-five men accompanied them, and they certainly found it more difficult to leave college than our men will, since they have but six cuts a term and for every absence from a recitation they receive a mark of zero. Why does not eighty-nine show some enthusiasm in this matter and encourage their nine to repeat the success they met with four weeks ago? Let every man in the freshman class who can possibly leave college, go and do his share towards aiding the nine to win the game, and keep the Yale freshmen off their much...
