...freshman team will be weaker than it has been for some years. There has been a lamentable lack of enthusiasm in the class, and consequently only a few men have gone to the park and trained faithfully. We should not be at all surprised were they unsuccessful in their game with the Harvard freshmen...

...scratch races this fall seems to be reviving a far more general interest in athletics throughout the college. Apart from this result, and from the direct influence thereby exercised in bringing out new men in rowing and ball playing, these sports seem to have aroused a very gratifying enthusiasm and feeling of emulation in several quarters where such a result could not reasonably be expected. Not only has the Crimson challenged the Advocate to mortal combat - on the Charles - but now, we understand, following this illustrious precedent, a foot-ball match between the Pierian and the Glee Club is being...

One of the (usually) most amusing features of the day was necessarily postponed till next Saturday, viz., the contest of the freshman eights. The success of the day, as a whole, under the adverse...

...college sustained in the departure of the class of '82, that a large number of new entries be made this fall and next spring from the lower classes, and especially from '86. In the loss that we suffer (at least temporarily) through the departure of our regular trainer, greater enthusiasm and energy will be demanded from all, both contestants and members of the association, to insure for us this year a success similar to that of the past season. We are assured from the character of the executive that no effort will be spared on the part of the officers...
