Still we do not see the obscurity so much complained of, the themes are distinct and well developed and at times intertwine to great advantage in the modern fashion invented by Wagner. Gounod's Entr'acte (La Colombe) is remarkably expressive of the subject with its sweetness and freedom of modulation. The Hungarian Rhapsody presents a fine idealization of Hungarian music with its fantastic cadences and its richly colored accompaniments...
