This has been a hard year for Florida's panhandle. Two months ago, Hurricane Erin followed nearly the same path. Residents of southern Florida were evacuated from coastal areas today as Gov. Lawton Chiles declared astate of emergency, closed state offices, activated the National Guard, and suspended toll-collecting on evacuation routes in preparation for the arrival Tuesday of Hurricane Erin. While not projected to be as lethal as Andrew was, Erin is expected to pound the southern part of the state with 90 mph winds, dumping up to 10 inches of rain and causing widespread flooding...
