After reading the article entitled "The Flap Over Diana" [in the current issue of What is to be Done"] I felt compelled to share my views. The author, Errol T. Louis, attacked Jeffrey Ferguson's letter to the editors, labelling it "sophomoric." This label was surprising, since the author felt no qualms about quoting a professor, who allegedly likened meeting Diana Ross" a Catholic about to meet the Virgin Mary." This is an offensive and puerile remark, at best...

...Stockel attacks Errol T. Louis, who has written against President Reagan's nuclear policy. Mr. Stockel argues that Reagan's policy best serves the interests of deterrence, by seeking nuclear parity with the Soviets. Regardless of what one might think of Reagan's nuclear policy. I think it is a mistake to believe it is based upon strategy of nuclear deterrence...

...Errol T. Louis seems like such a bright young man. He writes articles about the nuclear debate here and in Europe as if he were Anthony Lewis '48, and he effectively discounts any responses to his pieces by labelling all his opponents dupes of the Reagan Administration spewing forth propaganda like mindless morons (a nice twist on the traditional right-wing method of calling opponents Communist dupes). This is a tried and true method for advancing one's opinion--discredit the opposition and no one but you is left for the reader to believe--and it speaks well...

Antony J. Blinken and Errol T. Louis criticize Harvard students in the most self-righteous manner (3/14/83), yet fail to examine why there was such a great reaction to the cancellation and reinstatement of Bloom County. When I want to write about the Core Curriculum I will write to President Bok. When I want to write about the arms control debate I will write to President Reagan. Harvard students are not apathetic and the indictment made by Blinken and Louis that they are was done in a less than responsible manner. Martia Reichel...
