Ninety-three, 12; Hopkinson, I.The junior nine beat Hopkinson's school nine on Norton's Field, yesterday afternoon, by a score of 12 to 1, in a one-sided and uninteresting game. The juniors played an errorless game in the field, and hit the ball and stole bases almost at will. Paul, their regular pitcher, did not pitch for Hopkinson...

...make a home run and a three base hit, and to turn these to advantage by a wild pitch, a dead ball and a wild throw to third. Cook also made two errors in this inning, one of them very excusable. This unfortunate inning excepted, Harvard played the errorless game which the college has come to look for. Hovey especially distinguished himself. He and Bates, aided by Dickinson, made a very quick double play, which elicited much applause. At another time he fielded a man out at first while there was a runner on third, keeping the latter close...

...game yesterday was interesting and well played. The University of Vermont sent a good team to represent it, and our nine scored only in three innings. Harvard played a spirited and almost errorless game. Dickinson was weak at third, muffing a fly and throwing a prettily stopped grounder so wild to first that the base runner came in before the ball could be found. Dean and Hovey covered their territory finely and put a great deal of snap into their work. Bates, though very wild, was effective, and allowed only four hits. He was especially good at watching...

...game at Providence Saturday was the best that the nine has played for a long time. The fielding was practically errorless, the one misplay which is credited to Hovey being entirely excusable. This means a good deal, for Brown put a strong team in the field and several balls were knocked out that were hard to get. They were all fielded, not only cleanly, but quickly and prettily. Hovey in particular played a remarkable game at short stop. In the fifth inning, with one man out and Mendenhall on first base, Woodcock hit a hard grounder to short. Hovey...

...good. Yet the game with Worcester was decidedly the best this year, and gives much encouragement for the future. Bates put up a magnificent game, striking out sixteen men and holding the Worcesters well on bases. The fielding of our men, what little they had to do, was errorless, except for one fumble of Dean's. Worcester fielded well also. Harvard outbatted her opponents and earned two of her three runs. The base running of our nine was not as usual. In the first inning with no one out Dean ran from second to third on a passed ball...
