...even thought of my collection as celebrated; and I seemed to have asked some young ladies to my room to hear the autophones of every one, from George Francis Train to my Goody; I set the machine going, totally forgetting that I had left it open during my absence, and had left my chum in the room. Imagine my horror, when the first thing it reeled off was, "If you don't get out of this room, you d -- poco - " I hastily awoke from my reverie, and declared that autophones were out of the question. ...that the custom of wearing base-ball suits into Memorial Hall, though rapidly growing in favor among certain students, is not one that recommends itself for universal adoption. We admit that we have never belonged to a base-ball nine, that we are prejudiced, and that we perhaps even deserve to be called squeamish, but still we cannot help objecting to the practice. From an aesthetic point of view blouses of gray trimmed with crimson are not beautiful, and we have been told that one of the advantages gained by boarding in Memorial Hall is the refinement given...

By the rule no one is an amateur who has "worked in or about boats for hire," etc., etc. Now one Smith, of the Emerald Boat Club, we think, did once upon a time, for hire, catch some fish for a gentleman from a boat. Hence, he is no longer an amateur by the rule. Now almost...
THAT was the score at New Haven last Saturday. What does this show? It clearly shows that our Freshmen are at present a weak batting, but a good fielding nine. The Yale pitcher is a good one, but even those hits that were not base hits were not, as a rule, good square ones. Evidently there must be more attention paid to batting; there is good material in the Nine, and if they practise more at the bat, they can be a strong batting as well as a strong fielding nine. They must by no means neglect fielding practice...
