...University Library has lately received, as a gift from Reverend Edward Everett Hale '39, a number of the personal papers of Elisha Parmele 1778, the founder of the Harvard and Yale chapters of the Phi Beta Kappa society. After graduating from Harvard, Parmele studied for a time at William and Mary College in Virginia, where the original chapter of the society had just been established.
