TOKYO: In the latest dispute between Okinawans and the U.S. military, a landowner has filed suit to evict the military from his plot of land. Shoichi Chibana's lease with the military expired Sunday and he wants to return to his home. "I want to go back on my land," Chibana said. "In the end, we will win." WASHINGTON, D.C.: President Clinton Thursday issued orders to Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros to enforce the "one strike, you're out" order which would evict drug users, dealers or other violent criminals out of public housing units after one conviction. Calling the measure "hardball", Clinton said conditions in public housing were a "national disgrace." The measure has been on the federal law books since 1988, but was not enforced by most housing authorities. ...Harvard proceeds to recognize the HCIA, it might find it difficult to evict the group if they violate University guidelines. It might be hard for the administration to find positive evidence necessary for such action. At the same time, University recognition will confer a legitimacy on the BCC's activities.
