EWEX KNIGHT CORP. grew out of the Harvard doctoral thesis of Harold Ewen. Working with Harvard's Nobel-Prizewinning Physicist Edward Purcell (in '52, for nuclear magnetic measurement), Ewen developed and built equipment to locate and trace hydrogen clouds several hundred thousand light years distant from earth. This resulted in no less than a remapping of the solar system. With a fellow scientist's $1,000 and his own theories, Ewen started his company in 1952. turned out radiometers (receiving systems for radio telescopes), radio sextants, microwave components. Last year Ewen Knight chalked...

...startling new treatment for schizophrenia marked by delusions of persecution (one of the most difficult forms of the disease) was reported to Zurich by Dr. D. Ewen Cameron, director of Montreal's Allan Memorial Institute. Key to the treatment: "complete depatterning" of the patient's mind through shock therapy and deep sleep. Unlike brainwashing, Psychiatrist Cameron's method does not seek to implant alien ideas in the mind, but rather to break the chain of schizophrenic reactions and leave the mind free to reorganize itself. Granting that the method is "a sharp tool," Cameron considers it justified...

...waves were first observed at Harvard five years ago by Drs. Harold I. Ewen and Edward M. Purcell, and they have proved wonderfully useful in showing up features of the universe invisible to telescopes using light. The hydrogen clouds are everywhere, streaming along the spiral arms of the galaxy, clustered thickly in the Milky Way. An average cloud may be 25 light years (150 trillion miles) in diameter and weigh 100 times as much...

...Ewen, and Bart J. Bok, Robert Wheeler Willson Professor of Applied Astronomy, are the co-directors of the Radio Astronomy Program. Bok signalizes the Bloemfontein effect in that he took up radio astronomy seriously when the University gave up the South African installation. He has since attained world stature in the field, and is one of the key planners of the projected National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Ewen, through his firm, the Ewen-Knight Corporation, has developed the electronic apparatus of the telescopes...
