...June 14.--In spite of the rough weather all the crews had the usual morning work today except the four-oar. At 5.30 o'clock the first crew paddled to the lower end of the course against a strong wind and tide in one stretch, at a 28 stroke, and after a rest rowed back to the boathouse keeping the stroke above 29. The second crew joined them at the Navy Yard but the first crew soon gained a length rowing a 31 stroke. The four-oar paced the first crew for the last half-mile and finished well...
