...individual work of the members, all have shown plenty of fight and willingness to learn, but a surprising inability to get over old habits of slowness and clumsiness. Hall, right end, is a hard and intelligent worker and covers his end of the line very well, except for a tendency to go in at line plays too soon and thereby to leave the field clear for any sort of fake around his end. He is a hard tackler, but often overruns his man in going down under a punt. Practically the same faults are to be found in Sargent...

...University eleven held its last practice on the old field yesterday, and practice today will be on the Stadium field. Yesterday's scrimmage between the first and second elevens lasted for nearly 30 minutes and was hard and fast. The defense and, except for very poor punting, the offense of the University eleven were in general good, although the eleven was once scored on, and was several times forced to punt when carrying the ball. Four times the first forced the second to within scoring distance, twice for touchdowns; and twice Marshall tried for goals from the field, failing...

...University eleven was given very light practice yesterday and the men who played in the Pennsylvania game, with the exception of Mills, had no scrimmage. All the men are, however, in the best of condition except for a few scratches, and all except Bowditch, Hurley and Clothier were out yesterday. The backs were given a long punting practice and the linesmen were coached in falling on the ball. Guild, fullback on last year's Freshman team, joined the squad. In the signal practice, the University eleven lined up as follows: l.e., Montgomery; l.t., Meier; l.g., LeMoyne; c., Parkinson...

Parkinson has played a hard, aggressive and generally effective game, and is of all the linesmen except Bowditch probably the most reliable. A. Marshall, at right guard, and Knowlton, at right tackle, are heavy and strong, but have not as yet shown the speed and aggressiveness which would enable them on the defense to break through and stop plays or on the offense to open the way effectually for their own backs. Sugden, Carrick and Wilder, at centre and in the guard positions, are heavy, but slow. Meier, who has in the last two weeks been tried at left tackle...

...Pennsylvania game. With almost all the regular men on the University eleven, it was able in a thirty minute line-up to score only once against a weak second team, and was in turn scored upon. The line charged too high and on the defense was almost powerless. Except in the last four or five minutes, there was an absence of fight so that long gains were impossible. The first twenty minutes of scrimmage practice was secret...
