A Cambridge ordinance designed to limit institutional expansion will probably control both the use and density of institution-owned buildings, a city planner said yesterday.
THE BOUNDARY agreement limiting Harvard's expansion into Cambridge expires at the end of December. We call on Harvard to extend that agreement for at least another year in order to allow considered discussion of the issues surrounding University expansion.
The ordinance, which the council last summer ordered the city development office to draft, will restrict institutional expansion in the city.
"That neighborhood has stabilized with young families. Lesley is continuing the patterns of destroying the city's neighborhoods through expansion," Preusser said.
They, up at Harvard, were sucking in millions of taxpayers' dollars from Uncle Sam during wartime for University expansion, but they didn't give a hoot about providing their student population with dormitories and/or housing facilities. Only under Vellucci pressure did they finally enbark upon a program to build housing...
