...hearty cheering and well wishing of the fellow students just upon leaving Cambridge was by no means insignificant in raising the spirits of the men. Several of this crew have taken their last leave from Cambridge for such an occasion. No less than four of them do not expect to row again, and such heartfelt enthusiasm is indeed touching...

...university. This year is no exception, and the choice of study which Harvard offers for 1892-93 has in it unmistakable signs of advance. After a college has worked out such a complicated and liberal system of electives as Harvard has been building up, it is natural to expect that after those years of construction the university would settle down, content to run along for some time to come on the lines which it has with such pains laid down. The management needs $1000 to defray the expenses at New London, $700 of which has yet to be raised before the crew can go. At present they hope to leave for New London about June 10, that is, if the expected money is forthcoming; otherwise they will have to wait perhaps another week and this would allow only a very...

...great deal of the responsibility of the success or failure of a crew's finances lies with the collectors. It is hard to expect a man to give five dollars unless he is asked for it, and it is the duty of the collectors to ask for it, and ask for it urgently. We cannot impress upon them too strongly the need of immediate, energetic action. On them depends to a great degree the success of their crew...
