...Gibbs' assertion that Laura Bush snubbed President Ahmadinejad was an attempt to smear her. From the first picture you published, it seems to me that she was acknowledging the President of Iran, and it was he who ignored her. Did Ms. Gibbs expect Mrs. Bush to give Ahmadinejad a hug? If the President of Iran were a gentleman, he would have stood in the presence of the lady. Maria Fernandez, Boca Raton...
...wouldn't expect a spiritual leader to be able to power-lift 7,000 lbs. with one arm, but charismatic Indian philosopher Sri Chinmoy believed that extreme physical fitness was key to achieving enlightenment and world harmony. A guru with disciples around the globe, he drew attention to his mission by holding "ultramarathon" events that spanned up to 3,100 miles and by lifting trucks, airplanes and people, including Nobel laureates Muhammad Ali and Nelson Mandela...
Libertarians and communitarians (to continue this unjustified generalizing) are different character types. Communitarians tend to be bossy, boring and self-important, if they're not being oversweetened and touchy-feely. Libertarians, by contrast, are not the selfish monsters you might expect. But he did, using the term more than 60 times in 2 1?2 hours, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. But before anyone could break out the voting booths, Xinhua carried another story that clarified what Hu really meant: China would continue to develop democracy "with Chinese characteristics" under the "leadership of the Communist Party...
DeGeneres's outburst was, frankly, the kind of thing you expect her to satirize, not indulge in. And today she told her TV audience that the controversy had "gotten out of hand" and said she would drop the subject. As for the pet adoption agency, a Texas woman responding online to a Times of London article on this story (DeGeneres' show is syndicated internationally) got it just right. "Having done animal adoption for over 30 years," Margo Dover of Austin wrote, "I would have said that a compromise was in order. Mutts & Moms [the agency] should have gone...
