...second or third recitation, very kindly offered me the use of her notes, as I had come in a few minutes late. The result was, I was in perfect understanding with whatever was said afterwards by the professor. This little kindness was one which I should not expect from any one of the "boys," and although, I must confess, a little embarrassing at first, this was a great accommodation. ...result of our game with Brown on Wednesday last has materially changed the feeling of the college in regard to the chances of the final success of the nine. At the bat they did so much better than was expected, and exhibited such fine form in the field, that they inspired great hope of a victory in the game with Yale on Saturday. In the mile run Carr will enter as our representative. In both the half and quarter mile races we can at best expect but second prizes. It was expected for some time we should enter Rudington for the hurdle race, but he will be unable to go on account of sickness. Hamilton and Maxwell are both good bicycle-riders, and one, and perhaps both, will go to the Polo Grounds. Hamilton's record...

On that very point I beg leave to differ with the HERALD. Instead of the college having failed in its duty to the Glee Club I think precisely the reverse has been the case. The Glee Club this year has been much below the standard of former years. It is ridiculous to suppose that a university as large as is Harvard cannot produce a better club...
