...impact of this scandal could grow even wider. First, if any more pages come out in the next few weeks with stories of overly friendly or sexually explicit communications with congressman, there could more more resignations (although this could, of course, affect Democrats as well as Republicans). And if evidence emerges that congressional leaders knew even more about Foley's conduct than they have admitted, more Republicans might start calling for for their heads. Either way, the talk about Republicans rebounding in the fall has been quieted by a scandal no one could have predicted...
Some of the push to reuse is more cultural than economic. Hawaii's Pacific Biodiesel opened for business in 1996 with the explicit goal of helping the environment. That company collects used restaurant cooking oil--the stuff used to fry French fries and doughnuts--and converts it to diesel fuel. It's a well-known technology, championed by the likes of country singer Willie Nelson, but it hadn't been cost competitive until recently. Pacific Biodiesel sells a gallon of its French-fry fuel for $2.84 per gal. to $2.91 per gal.--which was about 60˘ cheaper than a gallon...

Arms will continue to flow through Syria to Hezbollah if UN troops are not given the explicit mission of monitoring the borders to prevent continued weapons shipment.Psychologically, Hezbollah cannot be allowed to emerge from this conflict with the perception of victory. As demonstrated by Saturday’s rally, Nasrallah is claiming this summer’s war as a victory for Islamic extremism. If Hezbollah...
...warranted, the conclusion we must draw about the difference between 19th and 20th century thought confirms my prearranged opinion about it, which is as much confirmation as any rational argument can hope for in our world — namely, that while the 19th century suffered under the explicit and wholly reprehensible conflation of the good with the profitable, the confusion the 20th suffers from is so total that it cannot be reprehensible but only pitiable...
