Although Massachusetts Avenue may be a far cry from Madison Avenue, the New York executives have never generated such excitement as the intellectuals with their cramped half-page of copy, buried on page forty-eight. First to express outrage and suspicion (an interesting combination), was the Hearst chain; and with various shades of anger, the rest of the national press followed suit...

...tours (from $140 per person) and all-out game safaris (from $1,000 for 30 days, including white hunter) can be booked in Nairobi; or travelers can head on their own for the Mount Kenya Safari Club (built by Actor William Holden's syndicate, now linked with American Express), where the living, hunting, dining and golf are expansive and expensive (front suite. $84 per person). If the funeral pace was intentional--to contrast with the orgies--Fellini erred in trying to express boredom by boring his audience. Although the Steiner episode should ostensibly have served as the keystone of his plot, Fellini did not shape it clearly enough to provide motivation for Steiner's suicide: he leaves us with only the orgy to fall back on. Without any sharply defined motivation...
