...criticisms that have been levelled at the teaching in the Economics Department in "The Progressive." The apparent cause for the movement is the complete lack of opportunity for further appointment after an instructor has proceeded for six or eight years in the University. This condition is verified by the fact that during the next ten years there are only tow permanent appointments open to the younger...
...despite his statements to the contrary, the people of Cambridge really do want the new housing project. In itself, the petition is a good thing, for it is a time-tried method of expressing public opinion. It will crystallize for both Mayor Lyons' and the public's benefit the fact that there is no opposition to the housing bill other than that coming from Mayor Lyons himself...
...Taxpayers' Association has in no way objected to this bill; in fact it has voted for the plan all along. Certain members of the Harvard faculty have been active on this issue. Certainly there is nothing super-colossal about "Pygmalion," and in that very fact lies its charm. There is plenty of Shavian paradoxical comment on Humanity if anyone cares to look for it, but certainly it is not thrown out into the audience's lap. Bouquets by the carload should go to Leslie Howard and Wendy Hiller for their performances. Howard's comedy...
