...comic exploits of a couple of hard-luck traffickers in grass. But overall the movie maintains high energy. There is one scene of true inspiration. At the end of the 6 o'clock news, the anchor man signs off and sits staring, smile firmly fixed, waiting for the fadeout and credits. Nothing happens. Soon the smile begins to stiffen at the edges, grow nervous. Gamely, still in character, the anchor man shuffles script pages on his desk, making official-looking marks in the upper right corners. Still nothing. His composure never crumbles, just begins to crack. Smile still...

...bursts forth and sails along the convoluted lining of the fallopian tube like a miniature moon over a mountain range. Sperm, their tails thrashing, cluster together like salmon awaiting a signal to leap a waterfall. Cells, pulsing with life, divide and reproduce. Finally, in a scene reminiscent of the fadeout of 2001, a fetus, its already human form visible through a transparent amniotic sac, fills the screen. ...fadeout from public view, Comet Kohoutek was far from a scientific disappointment. About a month after they had detected methyl cyanide molecules in the comet's head, radio astronomers atop Kitt Peak last week reported picking up the "signature" of hydrogen cyanide molecules in radio waves from Kohoutek. The discovery has dual significance. Both molecules have been found in the clouds of gases and dust in the vast reaches between the stars; thus their presence in the comet lends strong support to the theory that comets were formed from the same interstellar material out of which the solar system...
