...fairest? Kerry didn't seem to mind too much when Michael Moore's cheesy film Fahrenheit 9/11 cast aspersions on President Bush. Most Democrats embraced the film and enjoyed the damage it caused. Now that attacks on Kerry's military record are the hot item, Kerry can't take it and has demanded that Bush call off the dogs. Maybe Kerry should show what kind of man he is by speaking out against the kind of unbalanced politicking that Moore's film represents. Lloyd A. Marshall Gabriola, Canada...
...assertions Michael Moore makes in his film Fahrenheit 9/11 are factual [July 12], then why didn't Moore testify before the properly constituted bipartisan 9/11 commission, where his claims would have been thoroughly investigated and tested, along with the testimony of 1,200 other witnesses? ...credit for their discovery of the structure of the incredibly information-rich DNA molecule. There is a vast difference, however, between its original inspired design and its eventual discovery by humans. Those who desired a serious debate in the lead-up to the Iraq war waited in frustration for serious journalists to ask hard questions and apply critical scrutiny to the Administration's case. Moore's questions are the ones that should have been debated before we went into Iraq. Why should Moore's movie receive closer scrutiny than the Administration...
Take the Moore/Limbaugh divide. A new Annenberg poll shows that the two infotainers are little more than postmodern tribal leaders: an estimated 8% of Americans saw Fahrenheit 9/11 in July, and an estimated 7% listened to Limbaugh. Their tribes are hilariously antithetical on a range of issues--83% of Rushites support the way Bush is handling Iraq, 87% of Mooreists are opposed; 85% of Rushites support Bush's handling of the economy, and 82% of Mooreists don't. And yet, these extremist clumps throw disproportionate weight in the public square. Dick Cheney appears on Limbaugh's show; Moore appears...
