...cosmic team spirit. So it's appropriate that the movie come back into theaters to give kids of all ages the communal kick of a big-screen experience. Some early viewers have applauded the new material; others (the true believers) have booed it. But all cheer when the Millennium Falcon zaps into hyperspace; it is a video game a thousand people can play at once, and a time machine into movie memory. Who wouldn't enjoy being in a huge theater with a familiar friend from long ago and far, far away...

...year "A New Hope" came out. I have seen each installment of the Star Wars Trilogy numerous times on video, and when I was a kid I could draft two pretty solid armies from my Star Wars action figure collection (I made sure the side with the Millennium Falcon always won). Most significantly, the re-release of "Star Wars" in 1980 was the first movie I remember seeing in a movie theater and, since that was before the age of video, possibly the first movie I ever saw. While Chewie never seems lonely, it's difficult to believe the great brown fuzzy animal could be anything but depressed. Sure, he can take orders from Han Solo and Han seems to understand his growls.
