There was more first-class football displayed in yesterday's scrimmage between the first and second teams than has been shown in any of the previous practices on Soldiers Field this fall. Although the University team contained several substitutes, Captain Parker, Macdonald, Pierce and Giblet not being in the lineup at all, it showed greater possibilities, both offensively and defensively, than heretofore. More than 200 men have been training at Soldiers Field this week in preparation for the fall track meets. The majority of these have been working on the track under the direction of Coach Lathrop, while about 45 have been practicing the field events in charge of Coach Quinn. A considerable number of Freshmen have been out and the prospects are good for an interesting Freshman meet this fall...

Eighteen reported yesterday to Captain Leonard's special call for certain men to play fall baseball. Five of last year's University team reported and the other men were members of the second team, last year's Freshman team, and of the University squad. The men were divided into two teams, and an eight inning game was played in which team B defeated team A 6 to 2. The game on the whole was interesting and well played.
