Although our foot-ball team did not succeed in capturing the championship this fall, it is certain that they convinced the college of one thing, namely, that whatever support and encouragement their friends have given them was not misplaced. Two or three years ago the interest in foot-ball was very low indeed, and therefore the eleven labored under great disadvantages. Last year, however, by constant and well directed practice, the university team made a very good showing and awakened the interest in foot-ball again. Such was the state of affairs at the beginning of the present season...

...spite of the many misfortunes that our freshman eleven has experienced this fall, they have successfully passed through the struggle in which their predecessors have been repeatedly worsted. They have made immense improvement during the past few weeks, and, though they did not score a victory over Yale Saturday, still they broke the clean score of her victories since '77, and of this their class can be proud. The interest shown in our freshman teams has never even approached the corresponding sentiment at Yale. For that reason, chiefly, the blue has succeeded in holding the class championship firmly...
