Usage:

Until about 10 years ago, this tiny firehouse served as a training ground for rookies and a house of punishment for white firemen who had fallen out of favor with their bosses. Most of those men took little interest in the neighborhood--with the exception of the few black fire fighters who were there--and treated the station house as a fortress. Residents viewed them as outsiders, and some youngsters vandalized the place with rocks and graffiti. But as white firemen slowly transferred out, a core of African Americans who chose to remain behind began leaving the station's steel...

...when you don't like a video and you have to keep seeing it in the rotation over and over. We're much more of a music band, we spend so much time on the music and the live show. Yeah, but not in Sam's case--unless you thought of him as a sort of Charles Ives, drawing on the vernacular only to subvert it with a big, blatting off-key note. Like the brave soldier who spreads his battlefield picnic on a fallen foe's body; the beautiful blond whose wig falls off in a fight to reveal a perfectly bald pate; the western hero who coolly plugs his lover when the bad guy tries to use her as a shield in a gun fight.
