...second biggest in history, and the biggest since record 1948. Most farmers have lived up to their word, cut their acreage of "basic" crops as directed. But farmers, who have seen their products decline 23.5% in price in four years, did not let the land lie fallow. Instead, they put other crops into the ground. As a result, they may well produce the largest soybean crop on record, oats production will come close to setting a new high, and the sorghum crop may also reach a new peak...
...music all they need is a phonograph, a few records, and a little time. The record connoisseur knows better. He finds it is his duty to discuss the merits and demerits of any record ever made, from Aaronovich's fluffed trill in Op. O to Zzinzer's fallow tempos in Op. Posth. He predates the much-publicized hi-fi bug (who specializes in woofers, super-tweeters and push-pull amplifier circuits), but not until now has anyone tried to organize the record connoisseur's guerrilla war and set down some basic strategy...

Last week a little of the harvest from those barns was on exhibition at the Woodstock Artists Association Gallery. It made a conservative but sunny display. Most Woodstock painters seem to like picturing pleasant things in more or less understandable fashion. (Advance-guardists go elsewhere, chiefly to East Hampton...
...said a mouthful' "), historical precedents ("In the words of Pliny the Younger . . .") and unobtrusive counsel ("Had I been aware that your lordship was in the habit of sleeping in mauve pajamas, I would have advised against it"). Author Wodehouse promises not to let this great mind lie fallow for so long again...
