...fundamentals. I heartily agree; only whereas he says to the faculty: "You must begin." I insist that both sides must begin, and I still think the fate of the proposal in the conference committee augurs rather ill for the student side. The question is at present, so far as I know, not practical; that is, no proposition of change is likely to arise in the faculty. What would be the fate of any proposition arising from the students? EDITORS DAILY CRIMSON:- I noticed with some surprise a communication in your columns of Wednesday from a freshman, criticising the stand taken by " '89" in regard to proctors. ...been making a thorough investigation. Every possible pressure has been brought to bear upon the steward, and increased care is used in the preparation of the food. One change, which was recommended by the CRIMSON, has already been made. The regular set bill of fare has been changed as far as possible and is varied from day to day, with excellent results, while additional dishes often appear at breakfast. The directors endeavor to remove the causes of complaint whenever possible. As an instance, several additional pounds of coffee are now used every day to remedy the weakness of the coffee...
