...Some predict Japan will fare marginally better in its recession than the U.S. or the Eurozone. The Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) projects that 2009 GDP will grow 0.1% in Japan, compared with 0.9% in the U.S. and 0.5% across the Eurozone. "Financial-debt-to-GDP ratio is an advantage, and debt in the private sector has not increased, unlike in the U.S. and European countries," says Hiromichi Shirakawa, chief economist at Credit Suisse Japan. "The economy is less vulnerable." Nevertheless, he says, Japan is not an island: nothing points to an economic recovery in Japan unless...

...their fields of study—some physics concentrators might otherwise elect to “concentrate” in nuclear energy, for example, and some English concentrators might otherwise elect to “concentrate” in twentieth-century Irish literature. And while these specialties are ideal fare for course selections and theses, the charge of a well-rounded liberal arts education demands that Harvard undergraduates be exposed, as comprehensively as possible, to a broad and distinct field of study. You don't want to be stuck at a church with mediocre potluck fare. The old adage that 11 o'clock on Sunday morning is the most segregated hour in America is still largely true, but I'm guessing you'll want to find a congregation that has at least some racial diversity. That will be difficult if you want to find another UCC church, which is, as you know...

Well, an action figure, real or plastic, is just what this brisk exercise (the shortest Bond film ever) needs. Director Marc Forster--whose rsum includes a lot of gimmicky art-house fare, from Finding Neverland to The Kite Runner--does much better when he has no moral in tow; he can concentrate on shepherding the second-unit stunt work and setting a tempo of nearly nonstop suspense. What's lost in reverberations from the series' blithe old movies is gained in daredevil vigor...
