...quite dreary. In the weakest, Richard Pryor and Bill Cosby appear as vacationing Chicago doctors whose Los Angeles visit is ruined by slapstick mishaps involving torn clothing and wayward automobiles. It is a thin recap of an old Simon screenplay, The Out-of-Towners. Jane Fonda and Alan Alda fare only slightly better in their sketch. She plays a tart-tongued Newsweek editor who has flown West to fight with her ex-husband over the custody of their daughter...
...there is another question to be considered: that of the nature of the two institutions. Harvard, for all its power(or maybe because of it), does not have a very good record of responsiveness to student concerns. Radcliffe students who feel that they would fare better as full and "legitimate" members of Harvard College would do well to take account of the efforts of their male counterparts to affect the decision-making process at Harvard...
Another lovely legacy of old Russia is Chicken Kiev, a dish too seldom served in American homes or restaurants. Carl Jerome's The Complete Chicken (Random House; 247 pages; $12.95) should provide a rise in fare. The author, who has been a teaching and writing associate of James Beard's, ennobles the plebeian poulet in such great incarnalations as demi-deuil, en brioche and bollito misto, all sagely laid out. Jerome also offers some offbeat recipes for Southern fried chicken that will stir sizzling debate in Dixie...

(At Weinstein's the vice president did not criticize Hollywood.) Then came a starry concert at Radio City Music Hall that featured raunchy jokes by comedic actor John Leguizamo (where Gore did criticize Hollywood). This week Gore...
...minimum guaranteed benefit to ensure that more seniors do not fall into poverty. Bush vows to preserve the existing safety net for survivors and disabled workers but, so far, he does not guarantee a high enough safety net for poorer workers, or for those who do not fare well in the stock market...
