...Varsity defeated Wesleyan yesterday afternoon by the score of 34-0, in an uninteresting and one-sided game. Wesleyan was far from being the strong eleven that their recent scores indicated. They never kept the ball for any appreciable length of time and never forced the playing into Harvard's territory. Assisted only by the line-men, who lacked aggressiveness, their backs were able to gain the necessary five yards but once, and that on an extremely fine decision. There is one other point in connection with today's game which deserves attention. The game between '98 and '99 was marked by a most undignified and unneccessary amount of roughness. In fact it was an exhibition of petty bumptiousness which savored strongly of high school methods. So far the Freshmen have shown no tendency to do anything but play football, and it is natural that they should continue to attend strictly to business today. It rests therefore with the Juniors to see to it that as far as they are concerned there shall be no repetition of the undesirable...
