...Perkins '14 as "Trevor Graham" and P. Blackmur '15 as "Burtic Charlton" accomplished some decidedly clever acting, while T. E. Alcorn '13 and R. H. Allen sang their parts in splendid fashion. Both costumes and scenery were admirable and at least one unusual and really beautiful feature should be mentioned, the lowering of a lighted bell from which were released four doves...

Then came the fatal extra-period, with the CRIMSON playing in such a fashion as to revelate the Lampoon. To mention Phillips' ineffectual ground-covering dashes extending from the Stadium Bridge to the Cambridge Boat Club and always ending in a serious fall over the puck, the fiendish body-checking of Captain Batchelder, or the unapproachable rushes of Baker, suspected by the Lampoon to be "H.A.H." in disguise, were to insult the other members of the team. Some who read these words will deem Professor Eucken an old fogy, and German universities far behind the times. Surely American educators have seen a new light. Is it not the fashion to patronize scholars who are chiefly occupied in discovering new facts? Do we not desire above all "efficiency" teachers, even though they can only impart traditional knowledge? Who doubts that the best way to expand the intellects of students is by supervising rigidly their daily work, and by keeping them constantly in dread of quizzes and examinations? It is certainly very odd of Professor Eucken to think that...

...introduction of a new English-built, side-rigged shell, which has been given extensive trial in the fall work. The shell is an innovation in college rowing circles. The oarsmen, instead of sitting in a horizontal line over the keel of the boat, sit in zig-zag fashion in their sliding seats, a few inches to the right or left of the keel...
