...suffering citizen, that a few more will be distinctly a propos: a non-advertising week, a non-convention year, a death-to-Arrow-collar-men week, and unlimited-cuts week-all these and more, spelled out in capitals, would en it on the year, and make the time go faster in this country which is so bored with liberty that it destroys it upon the slightest opportunity...

...swift and stirring advance. Eighty-three of the Nation's 600 colleges and universities now have 245, 248 students enrolled for full-time work. This is an increase of 15.299 since the academic year of 1923-24. The rate of growth--nearly 6 1-2 per cent--is faster, proportionately, than the growth of the whole population of the United States. Think what that means! Fifteen thousand students are enough in themselves to make a small city. But one cannot consider these boys and girls alone. Behind them are fifteen thousand American families. And it is fair to assume...

...little white ball streaked back and forth, around and about, the four red walls of a brilliantly lit room. Following the ball's dizzy speed, two agile men, with the eyes of falcons, pursued it, rackets poised. In turn they beat the ball afresh to make it go faster-whack, whack, like pistol shots against the walls. Now and again one would miss his stroke. ...bogy of the constitution-destroyer is to be popped out before the terrified school-children. The were-wolf of radicalism will be made to howl again across the barren steppes of the American desert. The generation at school will learn by rote that the penalty of thinking further or faster than their sainted ancestors is "death, destruction, poverty, starvation, disease, and anarchy." George Washington, himself a radical and revolutionist, will be summoned from his grave to defend the constitutional guarantees of "life, liberty, justice, security, and opportunity." The American Legion, that distinguished organ of intellectuality, and toleration, will furnish speakers...

Dreadnoughts then superdread-noughts; airships, now superairships. The Shenandoah and the ZR3 with their 2,00,000 cu. ft. of gas or so, their lifting capacity of 150,000 Ib. will soon appear small and insignificant. Airships improve with size; the larger they are, the faster they can go and the greater the proportion of commercial load they can carry relative to their gross weight. Accordingly, the Good-year-Zeppelin Co. is planning on a 5,000,000 cu. ft. ship and the British are actually starting work on two ships of equal size...
