...There are three new dramas. Fathom is the most unusual, a sci-fi mystery about a bizarre life form that suddenly appears in the oceans. It's Lost, with fish. (From the press release: "Ever wonder what life would be like if a new form of sea life began to appear in locales all over the earth?" Yes! All the time!) Inconceivable, a comic-edged drama about a fertility clinic, looks like it was conceived through an egg donation from Grey's Anatomy. This spring's second insult to freedom-loving cowboy types was graver yet, although its implications might be hard to fathom for non-Montanans. The state's drivers, as of October, will not be allowed to drink alcohol in their vehicles. Outsiders may find this development astonishing. Drinking and driving was legal in Montana? Yes. ...Shot Seen Round The World" [Nov. 29], about the videotape of a Marine apparently killing a wounded Iraqi in a Fallujah mosque: It's amazing that we don't hear more stories like that. I hold no ill will toward the Marine, because I cannot begin to fathom what he and others endure in Iraq every day-car bombs, roadside rockets, booby-trapped bodies and Iraqi civilians who act like your friend one day and shoot at you the next. To all the armchair generals who criticize what happened at the mosque, I say grab a gun and try living...

...drunkenly speedwalking toward a campus party. Rumor has it there’s a little shindig in Quincy—or is it the Mather lowrise? The Belltower perhaps?  Either way, we hope that we’ve pre-gamed a sufficient amount to fathom what awaits...
