Died. Mrs. George Herman ("Babe") Ruth, 76, widow of the Sultan of Swat, baseball's greatest player; of cancer; in Manhattan. A Broadway dancer from Georgia, Claire Hodgson was unimpressed when she first met Ruth in 1923.
