Meadow Lark Fearnot is a lady beagle not a gentleman and it is most doubtful if she would have "enjoyed biting a small girl who sat" etc., as whatever their faults may be it is hard to find more docile creatures than beagles. I speak from experience, having a pack of twelve couples (one of which got "best beagle-under 13" at this show...
