Alexander Feldman from Kiev was sentenced to 3½ years in a Soviet labor camp. The charge: knocking a cake out of a woman's hands and addressing her obscenely. Pinkhas Pinkhasov, a carpenter from Derbent, received a term of five years. The charge: overcharging for his services. Isaac Shkolnik of Vinnitsa in the Ukraine was sentenced to ten years in a labor camp for "systematically" collecting "espionage material about the Soviet Union with a view to selling it to Israeli intelligence." In none of these cases was any witness or credible evidence produced to prove the charges...

Yale iced their victory cake by sweeping all three doubles matches without losing a set. Thal and Muscatine were outmuscled by Graham and Feldman, 4-6, 2-6. The second tandem of Roberts and Funara won only two games in their entire match. A third pairing of Okamura and Kathy Fulton came the closest, but they were checked by identical scores...

Operating on the brink, Bayh cannot compete on the scale of some of his rivals. While they have made profitable use of direct-mail appeals for funds, he is too strapped to do the same. "Even a small mailing of 250,000 pieces would cost $150,000," says Feldman. "At this stage in our campaign, we could use that money in better ways."
