General Arnulfo Gomez, onetime presidential candidate, fell into an ambush prepared for him by General Jose Gonzalo Escobar, who personally made the capture. A few hours later he was executed by a firing squad in the hamlet of Teocelo, Vera Cruz. With him died his nephew, Lieut. Col. Francisco Gomez Vizcarra. Shortly afterwards, Federal troops also shot General Adalberto Palacios, Colonel Salvador Costanos, Major Francisco Meza Perez.
