...Brazil, China and India will be crucial to ensuring that demand remains buoyant. Lula, too, has changed. These days he's a pragmatist who is as popular inside corporate boardrooms as he is in the favelas. On March 17, he will meet new U.S. President Barack Obama - a fellow moderate liberal who shares Lula's passion for green-energy ventures - in the White House. He will be the first Latin American leader to meet Obama since he took office, a sign, perhaps, that the new U.S. Administration sees Brazil as a key partner in forging a new policy...
...five years, the three were held hostage--many of their captors little more than brainwashed youths with guns--facing snakes, insects, disease and constant movement from one dank jungle camp to the next. But the character earning the most scorn in their lengthy account turns out to be a fellow captive. The section showing the mutation of mild-mannered scientist Jon Osterman into Dr. Manhattan is a gem of lucid storytelling. Shuffling the sequence of tenses, the film shows Jon as a young man in love, a fellow scarred by a nuclear accident, a boy watching his watchmaker dad, a superhero who can change size and location at will, a middle-aged stud letting his old love slip away as he finds someone younger and finally a sad sack of blue mourning the ordinary life he lost. Again...
...together that was half-birthday and half-half-Asian, one attendee sat in her upchuck. Moments later, a fellow reveler came over and graciously poured her own sympathy on her sick comrade...Nearby, an out-of-town guest got a taste of Harvard life atop the bar. But the sweetness was short-lived as he soon found himself locked in the bathroom (while in the buff) of one female undergrad. Luckily, mommy and daddy were more than willing to save the day...New trend on campus—getting trashed with a certain Mr. Cheeks? Furry friends and Friday nights...
