...concerns are increasingly remote for the men who don the blue shirts of Rangers and Celtic's green-and-white hoops. What could it possibly mean to Rangers' Georgian striker Shota Arveladze when those cheering his team on against Celtic are singing "We're up to our knees in Fenian blood!" ? And what passions does an IRA anthem stir in the heart of Celtic's favorite forward, Henrik Larsson, whose mother is Swedish and whose father hails from the West African island of Cabo Verde? Blarney. Clonbrony was a fiasco that began when a band of poorly organized and inadequately armed Fenian nationalists tried to take the local police barracks, and ended with the attackers scattered into the trees and hunted down one by one. ...senior year at N.D.). This was the night before a football game, and the atmosphere was something like a cross between ancient fertility rites and classical Bacchanalia. After O'Brien's speech several thousand wine-besotted "Fighting Irishmen" stormed off in vain pursuit of fisticuffs reminiscent of the Fenian invasion of Canada. Ronald Reagan plays the part of the dying George "Gipper" Gipp wonderfully...
