...Charles Francis Adams gave a collection of forty-eight volumes printed in Great Britain in relation to the rebellion. The Library also contains one hundred and sixty-eight volumes of manuscripts used by Jared Sparks, the manuscripts and books used by W. H. Prescott in preparing his Ferdinand and Isabella, and nearly six thousand publications collected by Dr. J. G. Palfrey.
