...those wise enough never to have read Love's Labour's Lost, behold Shakespeare's least complicated plot: King Ferdinand of Navarre (Thomas Derrah) has secluded himself in a private retreat, where for three years he has vowed he and his three attendants shall lead a virtuous life (sans dames). But love will find a way, this time from a visit of state by the beauteous Princess of France (Cherry Jones) and her ladies-in-waiting. Quicker than you can say "voulez-vous coucher avec moi" the king and his nobleman have discarded their celibacy like last year's underwear...
...scene in which the love-smitten Spaniards spy on each other mooning over their loved one's virtues, only Ben Evett crosses the line into the merely silly. The foursome fare much better disguised as dancing Cossacks, taking their roles a little less seriously. Even Galman's stepdaughter...

Has a history test ever been drawn up anywhere in the world that did not require the answer: "The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo"? The people of Sarajevo have nonetheless stoically retained their fierce pride in a history rich--that is to say complicated--enough to explain even Princip. It is good, however, to have newer memories, though even recollections of the 1984 Winter Olympics touch on the subject of Princip...
...wishes to encourage as much reform as possible while Marcos is still strong enough to hold the fractious elements of his nation in check. As the moderate opposition continues to squabble, Filipinos find themselves caught in a dilemma: the man they hold responsible for many of their woes, Ferdinand Marcos, also looks to be the only man who is in a position to help solve some of those problems...
