When I graduated from university in 1982 most of my friends took a year or more to find a suitable job, and my own field, biology, was disastrous. So I went abroad. Back in my homeland after 18 years in three countries on three continents, I have still not reached the material level of my parents, but I have not had a boring life; I've never had to apply for unemployment benefits and my children are happy about their multicultural background.
