DESPITE all predictions to the contrary, the Field Meeting of the Athletic Association proved to be a success; in fact, taking into consideration the difficulties under which it was held, it was a great success. Four weeks ago the idea of having a Meeting was entirely given up, but the offers of different gentlemen to give handsome cups proved an inducement to men to train, and in consequence the starters in the different events were, as a whole, more nearly "fit" than they have ever been before. ...refinement given by the artistic surroundings. Our second objection, it is true, is a weak one, but still is an objection.
