Died. Júlio de Mesquita Filho, 77, Brazilian publisher, head of O Estado de São Paulo, one of South America's most influential and respected dailies; of pneumonia; in São Paulo. All through the 1930s Mesquita fought the demagoguery, corruption and censorship of Dictator Getúlio Vargas and was one of the forces that eventually brought his overthrow in 1945.
