There are a number of places which the University could well utilize as parking space, besides the present site behind the Business School. Some of the long strip of Corporation property on either side of the river, or of the lots beyond Peabody Museum and the Film Foundation, might economically be made over for the purpose, with nominal levies on the users. The University would in this way be doing its students and the police a service, and would forestall any more of such dubious go-getting as the garages have been accused...
...Kuhn also said that the committee in charge of the pictures was fully satisfied with the reception that was accorded to "Barbarina, Die Tanzerin von Sanssouci." This film was run as an experiment and attendance exceded the expectations of the committee. 1275 members of the University and Radcliffe attended the four performances of the film. Only 1200 tickets were issued at the Museum. Previously to the showing of "Barbarina" the announcement was made that if the students showed sufficient interest there would be more films in the future. Perceptible to the casual observer was the coldness, the claque-like, unenthusiastic applause which closed the initial performance of "Barberina", the first German film to be presented at Harvard. This was immediately due to technical defects in the sound reproduction, unnecessary flaws which marred a most charming cinema. Of course, the film was badly chosen; it should have had a simple plot about a man and a woman and love which came at last, after all gangsters had been removed by the heroic physical efforts of the man. When critics read a Freudian significance into the modern immediacy of "Maedchen...
