"The Friend," a sonnet, though not quite musical and at the end not quite clear, may be called a "lovable" poem for its fine spirit and its unpretentious truth. Hicks excelled at the bat with a single and a fine three-bagger to left field. Lanigan made two clean hits over second, and all the others except Harvey and MacLaughlin counted once.
