...assurance from some medical experts that Magic has virtually no chance of infecting fellow players, the fact remains that such an event is possible. If Magic only collides with another player chasing a loose ball--which a great competitor like Magic has been known to do--gaping wounds and fingernail scratches on both players are not out of the question...

...growing weary of his own high-wire act. "One of the first things he said to me," says Fonda, "was, 'I feel like I'm constantly at war, always fighting to survive, risking everything, putting all the cards on the table.' It was always that white-knuckle, fingernail-biting, nerve-destroying kind of situation." ...late 1989, a Scottish investigator going through a bag of burned clothing found a fingernail-size shred of green plastic embedded in a piece of shirt. The fragment was shipped to Washington, where Tom Thurman, an FBI bomb expert, obtained from the CIA a bomb that had been captured unexploded from Libyan- supported terrorists in the African nation of Togo. The bit of plastic from Lockerbie perfectly matched part of the timing device from the Togo explosive. The letters MEBO had been imprinted and scratched out on the Togo bomb but were still decipherable. So the timer evidently had been...
