Yesterday morning the single scull race for the cup offered by Messrs. Thayer and Carroll, '85 was rowed. The course was one mile long, with the finish at the Union Boat Club House. The entries were Wood, '88; Fletcher, '87; and Sterne, '87. The race was won by J. W. Wood, '88, who crossed the line about five lengths ahead of Fletcher. The time was 7m. 12s. Rogers and Baker were both doing fine running, but in spite of his speed Baker could not catch Rogers, who finished between two and three yards ahead of him.
